" Environmental Optimization of Sustainable Irrigation Management and Household water use in the Semi-arid region of Deir El-Ahmar / Beqaa Valley" is funded by EU under AFKAR programme which is managed by OMSAR. It is implemented by ICU (Istituto per la Cooperazione universitaria) and OSAD (Organisation for Social and Agricultural Development) in Deir El Ahmar region. The project has two aspects: the first, social in order to promote the livelihoods of the community, and the second environmental, as it seeks to improve the efficiency of water use. Several activities have been executed including the establishment of a lake for the storage of water to irrigate vineyards, the installation of 10 km water network to fill several lakes and bring water to the farmers' land, the installation of 2 demonstrational plots for greywater treatment in order to introduce this new concept in the region and capacity building for farmers, teachers, women and awareness campaign for the necessity of managing and conserving water in this semi-arid region.
In order to present all these outcomes to the local community, a documentary of 5 min showing all these activities and interviewing some beneficiaries in the region is proposed.
