About the conference:
THE PRIMACY OF THE CONTEXT
AT (TRANS) TRANSFORMATION
Since its creation, Architecture Studio has considered architecture as an art committed to society, and advocates a collective approach to its design, highlighting the virtues of exchange, debate and group synergy.
It is around these ideas that Architecture Studio, which today comprises 150 architects and urban planners, between Paris and Shanghai, has been created and counts projects and projects around the world.
The primacy given to the context in the broad sense of the term, characterized the work of Architecture-Studio from its first projects. Thanks to the activity of the international agency, this approach has been enriched by the exploration of several contexts in the world, whose different issues require ever renewed architectural responses.
Through a selection of Architecture Studio projects from the 80s to the present day, in Europe, China, the Middle East, and elsewhere, the question of the relationship of architecture to each particular context will be raised: to register , transform or train?
Born in 1964 in Beirut, Roueïda Ayache is an architect graduated from the Special School of Architecture in 1989. She also holds a DEA in philosophy from the Sorbonne. She is simultaneously registered with the order of the architects of Ile de France and Lebanon.
Roueïda Ayache participates in the development of all the projects of the agency "Architecture-Studio" created in Paris in 1973 and established today in Shanghai, Beijing and Venice. This agency brings together 150 urban architects and interior designers from 25 different nationalities.
Architecture-Studio defines architecture as an art committed to society whose foundations are based on an approach that is both creative and contextual in the broad sense of the term, driven by group work.
Among the projects and emblematic achievements of the agency, the European Parliament of Strasbourg, the Institute of the Arab World in Paris, the Onassis Foundation in Athens, the master plan of the new city of Kabul; or the Bahrain National Theater, the Rotana Hotel Tower in Amman, and the design of the public spaces of the new Lusail city in Qatar, projects in which Roueïda Ayache was in charge of the management.
